Comparing Gesture Alternatives by Spec
Steelcase Gesture with Headrest & Lumbar
This Steelcase Gesture model includes a headrest, which the original low seat version lacks. It also uses a standard height range of 16 to 21 inches, rather than the lower 14.5 to 18.25 inch range of the original. The shell width is slightly narrower at 27 inches compared to the original's 28.8 inches. You get synchronized back support and hard-floor wheels just like the original. This option suits you if you need neck support and do not require the lowest possible seat height.
Steelcase Gesture Chair with Headrest
This variant features 360-degree arm adjustability, offering more positional control than the fully adjustable arms on the original. It does not include a headrest, matching the original's lack of one. The seat size is listed as medium, and the overall dimensions differ, with a height of 21.3 inches and a length of 32.5 inches. It retains the fabric upholstery and hard-floor casters. This chair is a good fit if you prioritize precise arm positioning and do not need the specific low seat height range of the original Gesture.
Steelcase Gesture Low-Height Fabric Chair
This low-height model matches the original's seat range of 14.5 to 18.25 inches and uses the same 28.8-inch width. The key difference is the wheel type; this version includes carpet wheels, whereas the original uses wheels for hard flooring. It maintains the synchronized back support and lumbar adjustment features. The upholstery is bluejay fabric. You should choose this alternative if you sit on carpet but still need the low seat height and durable construction found in the original Steelcase Gesture.
Steelcase Leap V2 Chair with Headrest
The Steelcase Leap V2 offers a different ergonomic approach with firm lumbar control, distinct from the synchronized system in the original Gesture. It includes a headrest and adjustable arms, providing more upper body support options. The seat height range is not specified as low, and the chair weighs 65 pounds, which is lighter than the original's 78 pounds. It uses soft hard floor casters. This model is better for you if you prioritize adjustable lumbar firmness and headrest support over the specific low seat height of the Gesture.
GTPLAYER Fabric Gaming Chair with Footrest
This GTPLAYER chair introduces a footrest and headrest, features absent in the original Steelcase Gesture. It is significantly lighter at 40.6 pounds and has a much narrower width of 20.1 inches. The upholstery is fabric, similar to the original, but the design focuses on reclining comfort rather than precise ergonomic adjustments. It lacks the synchronized back support system. This option suits you if you want a chair for relaxation and lounging with a footrest, rather than strict office ergonomics and low seat height requirements.
Indulgear Big and Tall 650-lb Fabric Chair
The Indulgear chair is designed for big and tall users, with a 650 lb capacity compared to the original's standard weight limit. It features an inflatable lumbar cushion, offering customizable support different from the original's fixed adjustable lumbar. The back style is high back, and the width is 32.7 inches, making it wider than the original. It uses fabric upholstery. This alternative is the right choice if you need heavy-duty support and a wider seat, rather than the specific low height and ergonomic precision of the Steelcase Gesture.
